Course Description

Machine learning is an exciting field that has evolved from artificial intelligence.  It is currently being applied in various applications and pioneering major breakthroughs in recent years including self-driving cars, smartphones, facial recognition, spam filtering, smart web search, cloud computing, and genetic analysis.
Penn State Abington’s Smart Machines camp is a two-week, full-day summer program to introduce high school students to the science, techniques and logic that drive the fields of machine learning. The objective of this program is two-fold: first objective is to provide an introduction to the background of computer vision, machine learning methods and principles. The second objective is to provide the students with hands-on experience of machine learning and an exposure to real-world applications. This program provides hands on experience in domains including facial detection, facial recognition, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), knowledge extraction, and other contemporary applications.
