Course Description

Basic Electricity - Fundamental circuit concepts, resistance, voltage, current, power and energy.  Circuit analysis of series and parallel circuits, voltage and current dividers, transformers, RL and RC circuits.  Use of basic measuring instruments for analysis and troubleshooting of circuits.  National electrical code topics including grounding, power distribution, overvoltage protection, transformers, and safety practices.

Electricity I is the second of eight courses in the Advanced Process Automation certificate program through the Pennsylvania State University College of Engineering.  The program runs from August 2024 through April 2025.

Dates:  Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm
