Course Description

​Students in this course will be exposed to theory, hands-on training, DVD presentations, and slide deck presentations of basic motor controls circuits such as emergency stop, interlocks, stop/start and start/stop/job stations. Devices will include contactors, transformers, thermal overloads, switches, and 3 phase power devices. Also included will be motor nameplate explanations and motor controls trouble shooting.​

Motor Controls I is the fourth of eight courses in the Advanced Process Automation certificate program through the Pennsylvania State University College of Engineering.  The program runs from August 2025 through April 2026.
 
Dates:  Tuesday & Thursday from 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Location:  Penn State Hazleton, Laurel Building Room 101
Included in cost are books and materials.  Students will receive books the first day of class.
