Course Description

Students in this course will be exposed to theory and hands on training of advanced motor controls. Devices will include over current protection, contactors, transformers, thermal overloads, switches, and 3 phase power devices. Students will learn an in-depth study of feeders, single and multi-motor circuits and be able to safely design and implement a complete system according to NEC standards. Also included will be variable frequency drives.

Motor Controls II is the fifth of eight courses in the Advanced Process Automation certificate program through the Pennsylvania State University College of Engineering.  The program runs from August 2025 through April 2026.

Dates:  Tuesday & Thursday from 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Location:  Penn State Hazleton, Laurel Building Room 101
Included in cost are books and materials.  Students will receive books the first day of class.
