Course Description

This class will be a combination of classroom and hands-on exercises with presses. Concepts will be introduced in a classroom setting along with videos. Videos will also be made available online. Participants will have hands-on experience in spherical set-up, including how to assemble tools in the press, adapter selection, tooling installation, mold position settings and proper fill position settings. Characteristics of powder (introduced in straight wall set-up) will be reviewed and feed shoe set-up discussed. Shapes and features that can be readily compacted as well as features that cause tooling or powder fill problems will also be covered (e.g. wall thickness, radii, bevels, chamfers, flats). Factors specific to spherical shapes will be emphasized. This class will include a review of safety procedures and step by step set-up procedures, including how to make adjustments to compensate for problems.

Hands on training may take place in one of several formats: in-class instruction, instruction at the company by company trainers, or instruction at the company by a consultant. The last two options would provide for training on the presses used in that company.
