Course Description

Do you or any of  your employees need to read the opacity of industrial plumes and conduct certification tests in accordance with EPA Method 9, 22, 203 A, B, and C?  If so, this program is for you.  It offers:  Title 5 certification, more than forty years of experience in visible emissions training, state and federal employee discounts, & auditable record retention.  Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI) has more than 67 years of experience supporting the facility needs of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including facilities assessments, O&M support, project review, training, energy procurement, and applied research.  Anyone who is required to be, or wants to become, a certified “smoke reader” should attend this program.  While the program is technical, it requires no formal education in science, engineering, or technology.  It is not suitable for researchers but is appropriate for consultants, lawyers, individuals with regulatory agencies, plant engineers, environmental engineers, technicians, boiler operators, and process-operating personnel.  Since the EPA requires recertification every six months, those who want to maintain their certification through Penn State should attend both the fall and spring program.
