Course Description

Winery Sanitation: Provides an overview of the importance of sanitation in the winery, and an introduction to basic sanitation procedures. The Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) will be introduced as the model for ensuring sanitary procedures will be followed in the winery.

BEFORE YOU REGISTER:  This program has a Canvas component that requires you to have a Penn State Access Account. This course incorporates online lecture with scheduled discussions Tuesday evenings from 7-8pm. Topics covered include: the relationship of sanitation to wine quality, physical plan concerns, processing concerns, water quality, sanitizers, chemical and physical, equipment and tank sanitation and definition of terms.  Course participants will need computer/internet access. 

CANCELLATION POLICY:  A full refund will be offered up to one week prior to the start of the course.  A $50 drop fee will be assessed for cancellation requests received within a week prior to the course start. No refunds will be issued after the course start date. Cancellation requests should be directed to Erica Kunkel at els5014@psu.edu.
