Course Description

EduGaming Conference and Workshop establishes and promotes an initiative in leveraging education games and computer science education as a supplementary pedagogical method for teaching grade school mathematics problem solving and beyond.  It is aimed to advance PK-12 classroom practitioners’ knowledge of how to incorporate games in their classrooms as a means to engage young children beyond traditional curriculum.  Participants learn multifaceted perspectives of computer languages ranging from coding with manipulatives (e.g., Osmo Coding Awbie) for Kindergarteners to abstract high-level programming techniques (e.g., Python) for Grade 12 students.  The power and beauty of critical thinking and problem solving in mathematics through computational and numerical methods is emphasized.
