Course Description


In this course the student will learn how to record the financial transactions of a business. Students who pass this course are eligible to take the AIPB Bookkeeping Certification test prep course. Students learn the five categories used in every business to keep track of financial activities (Assets, Liabilities, Owner's Equity, Revenue and Expenses.) Students then learn how to create a chart of accounts using the five categories. Students will learn double entry bookkeeping and the process of recording debits and credits. This course will demonstrate how to identify, analyze and record transactions using journal entries. The content in this
course is aligned with small businesses.

Program Objectives - Specific skills that will be obtained through completion of this course:
1. Gain an understanding of the five accounting categories.
2. Learn the importance of recording financial activity in a timely manner.
3. Learn how to use the double entry bookkeeping system with a solid understanding of how debits and credits work.
4. Learn how to properly record financial activity using journal entries.
