Course Description

This course will provide an overview of standard medications (pharmacology) that are routinely administered in a drug and alcohol and mental health venue. Basic principles of pharmacology, including receptor mechanisms, drug distribution and metabolism, and tutorials on the interactions of drugs and biological systems as a basis for rational mental health and addictions therapy. This course will also place emphasis on the most effective ways to perform an effective (treatment planning) that is often used in substance abuse and mental health treatment practices. In short, course will offer an overview of the procedures and practices of Addictions/Mental Health Counselors for determining the best treatment plans for clients.
