Course Description

Often overlooked, water is considered by brewers as the key ingredient on the road to high quality beer. In this module students will learn the important role water plays in the brewing process, how its chemistry affects mash efficiency, beer mouthfeel, overall beer quality, and what brewers can do when the water source that is available to them isn’t the best option for brewing.

Water is the sixth of eight Brewing Certificate courses being offered.  The course will be offered September 2 – October 18, 2024.  This is a remote learning opportunity with Zoom instruction/discussions held Thursdays evenings from 8-9pm.

Required Text: Water: A Comprehensive Guide for Brewers by John J. Palmer and Colin Kaminski
Suggested Text: Brewing Materials and Processes by Dr. Charlie Bamforth
