Course Description

Digital Manufacturing Essentials is designed for individuals with practical and applied experience in traditional manufacturing, and who are looking to enhance their knowledge in smart/digital manufacturing technologies and processes to augment their overall skills in manufacturing. This would include manufacturing plant engineers, plant supervisors, automation equipment leads, equipment operators and technicians in the manufacturing field whose responsibility is working in a manufacturing environment that involves increasing interaction with advanced manufacturing processes.  Training content is provided in four modules covering Digital Devices & Automation (sensing & data collection, machine-to-machine communication, operator interface & supervisory control and programmable logic controllers – PLCs); Robotics & Physical Automation (industrial robotics, physical & vision-based systems, plant assessment, and de-risking); Digital Controls & Data Management (controls systems & modeling, data analytics, visualization and management); Manufacturing Operations Management (enterprise resource planning, product lifecycle management, manufacturing execution systems and lean principles, processes and qualification testing). Professional development skills are provided in professional communication, change management and project management in manufacturing.
