Course Description

This course introduces relational database systems, analysis techniques, modeling & design. It examines features & use of universal modeling language (UML) structured query language (SQL) & entity relationship diagrams (ERD) to build an actual database application. In addition, important concepts such as normalization & data warehousing & new technologies such as XML will be examined. The course includes lecture, hands-on exercises, and a team project to build a usable database in Oracle, DB2, SQL-server or my SQL, which may also be used in the team project in SQL & PL/SQL course that follows.
