Course Description

Learn basic methods of legal research, analysis, and written support through identification and use of primary and secondary sources. Understand basic structure of legal documents and terminology. Understand policies and respect for county records. Includes site visits to Clearfield county register and recorder's office and an introduction to use of landex remote system.

Course Outline

Learn the basic methods of title searching and preparation of a title abstract.  A discussion of basic title documents and terminology will be provided.  Visiting the Clearfield County Register and Recorder's office will allow students a hands-on approach to abstracting and an introduction to the county records and the various indexing systems.  This class would be beneficial to legal secretaries, surveyors, real estate agents/investors as well as those looking to start a new career as an independent title abstractor.
