Course Description

This course will be offered in an instructor-led format online (synchronous). This module will provide fundamental definitions and concepts for Smart Manufacturing and the core components of modern data-driven, automated, and cyber-physical manufacturing systems. It is intended to be an overview of Smart as a preamble to the remaining modules in the full program. Focus areas will include Data Collection and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Data Analytics and Predictive Modeling for Production Data, Simulation and Digital Twins, and Process and Manufacturing Systems Optimization. A demonstration manufacturing process will be explored along with discussions relating to specific participant challenges and opportunities. Designed for individuals with practical and applied experience in traditional and digital manufacturing, and who are looking to enhance their technology acumen in the advancement of digital manufacturing to help their organizations in the area of growth and competitiveness.
