Course Description

This NEW CAMP is a focused introduction for campers to explore the exciting career opportunities that await in hospitality management.  During this four-day social, managerial, and entrepreneurial experience, campers will learn to relate to the relationship between host and a guest.  Campers will be introduced to the broad spectrum of hospitality careers in traditional lodging, cruise and airline industries, theme parks, casinos, club management, resorts destinations, national parks, wedding and large event management, managed service (ie. Concessions), travel agency, and senior living.  Innovation is changing the way guests browse options, visit, order, eat and is ultimately changing the social experience.

Morning sessions will host a variety of practical exercises that are theoretically grounded in hospitality principles, while afternoons will be with Penn State Berks Chef Joe and other distinguished professionals gaining insight into kitchen safety, applying kitchen chemistry principles, and getting hands-on creating culinary concoctions in our student test kitchen.
