DPW required training for personal care home current administrators, those who wish to become administrators, and direct care staff. Tracks include: caring, caring for special needs, and management. Topics include: medication procedure s, personal hygiene, nutrition, writing assessments, recreation, cultural competency, gerontology, care for residents w/mental illness, dementia, cognitive impairments, & mental retardation, abuse and neglect prevention & reporting, resident home contracts, fire prevention, community resources, local, state, & federal laws, staff supervision & training, budgets, resident rights, CPR.

Upon registration, you will receive a link via email and login directions for the course materials the Friday before the first session. All course materials are provided electronically. Printed copies are available upon request with an additional fee. All classes are on Zoom except for the Exam and Demonstration for CPR. The exam and CPR demo are held at Penn State Beaver in Monaca Pennsylvania tentatively scheduled on Wednesday, December 18th from 12 noon to 4pm. You will need to login to Zoom with a computer that has video and audio capability. You will need to have your camera on and appear in view for attendance requirements. You are not permitted to work or be involved in any other activity while in class. Attendance will also be verified by reviewing Zoom usage reports.
