Course Description

Bringing effective teaching and learning paradigms that focus on marine plastic pollution, conservation, and sustainability to the forefront in undergraduate education requires innovative out-of-the-box methods. Such methods should include unique partnerships and pedagogical methods that connect students with diverse stakeholders, real-world policies and realities, and foster meaningful action. In this presentation, unconventional partnerships and teaching strategies that transcend academic disciplines, pedagogical practices, and study-abroad programming will be presented. The goal is to enhance learning and empower students (and institutions) to take meaningful steps to reduce plastic pollution, protect biodiversity, and to steward our oceans in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).?
