Course Description

Explore the technical challenges and discovery of designing and creating your own jewelry. In this class, designed for beginners, students will learn basic metalsmithing techniques such as fabrication, piercework, surface treatment, annealing, and cold joining. No prior metalsmithing or art knowledge is necessary. Experienced students are also welcome. Students will be required to purchase or bring a small tool kit. A link to purchase a kit will be provided upon registration (approx. $70.) for those without tools. Basic materials will be provided and are included in the cost of the class. Participants will create two-three pieces of finished jewelry. Potentials projects include pendants, brooches, or rings.

Course:  Beginner Jewelry Making and Metalsmithing
Date: Tuesdays, February 11-March 18, 2025  
Time:  5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  
Locations:  Penn State DuBois  
Students will be required to purchase or bring a small tool kit. A link to purchase a kit will be provided upon registration (approx. $70.) for those without tools. Students may request a registration cancellation through the start date of the course. A $25 cancellation fee will apply. No refunds will be given for withdrawal requests after the course start date.
