Course Description

The noncredit 100-hour Personal Care Home Administrator training is required by DHS (PA Department of Human Services) for current personal care home administrators, those who wish to become an administrator and direct care staff. 100-hours of training include the following courses: Personal Care Services and Hygiene; Certification in CPR; Nutrition, Food Handling and Sanitation; Care for Residents with Dementia; Abuse and Neglect Prevention and Reporting; Cultural Competency; Gerontology; Writing Assessments; Care for Residents with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities; Care for Residents with Mental Illness; Medication Procedures; Fire Prevention; Recreation; Budgeting and Financial Recordkeeping; Community Resources, and Staff Supervision.

Section Notes

Upon registration, you will receive a link via email and login directions to the online classroom and materials the Friday before the first session of class. All course materials are provided electronically. Printed copies are available upon request with an additional fee. All classes are on Zoom except for the Exam and Demonstration for CPR. These are held at Penn State Beaver in Monaca Pennsylvania. Program days are Tuesday and Thursday evenings and every other Saturday. You will need to log in to Zoom with a computer that has video and audio capability. You will need to have your camera on and appear in view. You are not permitted to work or be involved in any other activity while in class. Attendance will also be verified by reviewing Zoom registration.
