Course Description

This program is designed for individuals with little to no experience in manufacturing who are looking to start a new career or to advance their skills in manufacturing. You will receive fundamental learning on traditional manufacturing and Digital/Smart Manufacturing (D/SM) concepts and career opportunities. Topics covered include what manufacturing is, background/history and the future of manufacturing. Training sections cover blueprint reading, engineering measurement, hand/power tools competency, basic industrial math fundamentals, product development processes, design for manufacturing and assembly, computer-aided systems in design/development of products, CNC simulation, computer-aided manufacturing, industrial safety, quality/lean manufacturing principles, basic project management, subtractive manufacturing (machining), introduction to industrial robotics, 3D printing/additive manufacturing concepts, automation systems such as sensors, actuators & Internet of Things, industrial computers & interfaces such as PLCs & HMIs, integration of digital controls in SMART manufacturing and the power/impact of data in manufacturing. Personal development topics are covered within the technical training to enrich students on essential professional development skills including collaboration/teamwork, problem solving/critical thinking, decision making, conflict resolution, communication in the digital workplace and developing a professional persona. You will develop your unique professional persona, a professional social media account (via LinkedIn), and create impactful resumes and cover letters, and interviewing skills with practice via mock interviews. Class consists of a mix of presentations, hands-on learning labs and technology demonstrations.

FEE: FREE for individuals such as job seekers and those looking for a new careers. $2000/person (discounted from $2,500) for companies looking to register employees to assist with new employee on boarding.

Dates: Tuesday, March 10th – Thursday, April 30th, 2026                                                                       

Frequency: Every Tuesday and Thursday starting on 03/10/2026 and finishing on Thursday 04/30/2026; There will be a 3 hour Saturday session on 04/11/2026. 

Hours: 5:45pm to 8:15pm
-    Includes meals (dinner) and beverages.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration/class is on a first come/first serve basis and is limited to the first 12 registered. Participants that register after the class is filled will be given first choice for our next class scheduled for spring 2026.
