Course Description

Real Estate Practice provides the student with an introduction to all facets of the real estate business including a survey of fields of specialization. Emphasis is on the role of the real estate agent in the field of residential brokerage. This course is designed to acquaint the student with the basic techniques, procedures, regulations, and ethics involved in a real estate transaction along with a working knowledge of the forms and documents used including the related mathematics.

Class Dates: September 16, 2026 – December 16, 2026 
 
Meeting Days/Dates/Times:  Wednesdays, September 16 – December 2 then continues Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Dec. 7, 9, 14 & 16, 2026. 
Location:  Penn State Scranton Campus 120 Ridge View Drive, Dunmore PA 18512, Building and Room Number will be provided via email closer to course start date.

The Center for Business Development and Community Outreach will be in contact with you using the email you provided at registration.  Please watch for these emails which will contain important course details including Building and Room numbers and book requirement information.   
 
IMPORTANT:  The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission approves the educational requirements for the salesperson’s examination.  The Real Estate Practice course and the Real Estate Fundamentals course do not need to be taken at the same time however both are required to sit for the Real Estate Salesperson Exam.  You will be required to participate/attend classes 80% of class time at a minimum and this time will be recorded by the instructor.  
 
Cancellations:  If you need to cancel your registration, we require written notification via email to scrantonoutreach@psu.edu a minimum of seven (7) days before the start of the course.  All refunds are subject to a $35.00 administrative fee.  Refunds will not be issued after the start of the course.  The University reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances.
