Course Description

Students will examine the distinct roles and responsibilities of governing bodies and administrative staff, principles of effective board - staff relationships, and strategies for productive meetings, including the fundamentals of parliamentary procedure and the basics of Robert's Rules of Order. The course also explores local government codes, the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, Sunshine Act, Pennsylvania Ethics Act and record retention requirements, with an emphasis on practical compliance, transparency and ethical decision-making. Students will gain foundational knowledge and practical tools to support accountable, lawful and effective local government operations.

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. 
The Zoom link will be sent one week prior to the course start date. 
 
Payment is due upon registration. Students may request a registration cancellation through the start date of the course. A $25 cancellation fee will apply. No refunds will be given for withdrawal requests after the course start date. The University reserves the right to cancel course selections.
