Course Description

While this workshop has a focus on drinking water processes, it provides students with the necessary study material for the DW nongaseous hypochlorite (subclass 12) and the Wastewater Part 1 General certification exams. It is DEP approved (6490) for both DW and WW operators.  Students will be introduced to the uses and properties of hypochlorites, chemical handling, regulatory requirements, and feed equipment. Various mathematics principles will be addressed throughout the workshop including changing % concentrations, dosage/feed rates, chlorine demand/dose, and ct calculations. A short review of chlorine gas disinfection and additional self-study materials, which can be used to prepare for the DW part 2 subclass 11 exam are also provided.
